Hawaiian natives Galu and Diane Tagovailoa, parents of NFL quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, have teamed up with experienced multi-unit franchisee Ted Davenport to expand Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii in Honolulu. The partners have signed a three-unit agreement, with the first location scheduled to open this spring.
“Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii is more than just a brand—it’s a celebration of Hawaii’s culture, flavors, and spirit,” said Davenport, who brings over 30 years of franchising experience to the partnership. “Having lived in Hawaii most of my life, I’m excited to bring this iconic brand home alongside Galu and Diane. Together, we are committed to delivering an authentic Hawaiian coffee experience that honors the islands.”
Davenport has a successful track record in franchising, having owned and operated locations for major brands like Subway, Ruby Tuesday, and TCBY. For this new venture, he has joined forces with the Tagovailoa family, who have strong connections to the Hawaiian community.
“This partnership marks a meaningful return to our roots,” said Scott Snyder, CEO of Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii. “As we expand in Hawaii, we’re not just opening stores; we’re sharing the aloha spirit and creating spaces where the community can gather, connect, and celebrate what Hawaii is all about. Galu, Diane, and Ted are the perfect partners to help us carry this mission forward with passion and integrity.”
