Starbucks continues to innovate, keeping its loyal customers engaged with new offerings and policies. From its early days as a small coffee shop in Seattle, the chain has grown into the world’s largest coffeehouse brand. Known for its unique seasonal flavors, like the popular Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte (returning in spring 2025), and experimental drinks like the now-discontinued Oleato olive oil coffee, Starbucks is always testing new ideas to attract customers.
In 2025, one of the most notable changes comes to the chain’s refill policy. Starbucks has introduced free refills for all “for-here” customers, meaning anyone who drinks their coffee in-store can now refill their cup at no extra charge.
However, there are some exceptions. Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew, along with flavored Iced Teas, Iced Tea Lemonades, and drinks containing a Starbucks Refresher base, are not included in the free refill offer. But customers can still enjoy refills of Iced Coffee, brewed coffee (including pour-overs and Caffè Mistos), brewed tea, and Iced Tea.
This updated refill policy, which took effect on January 27, 2025, is a shift from the previous policy that offered free refills on Cold Brew but excluded Nitro Cold Brew.
