Located just across from Coconut Point Mall, Union Coffee is quickly becoming more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee—it’s a new community hub for Estero, Florida.
The café opened in February inside Ocean Church and serves locally roasted coffee, handcrafted syrups made by Pink House Alchemy, and a rotating menu of pastries from nearby bakeries. Despite being inside a church, Union Coffee welcomes everyone, aiming to offer a warm and inviting space for locals and visitors alike.
In a town with limited independent coffee shops or casual meeting places, Union Coffee fills an important need. Whether it’s students looking for a place to study, professionals holding small meetings, or neighbors simply catching up, the café provides a much-needed alternative to chain coffee shops.
The name “Union” comes from the word “communion,” reflecting the café’s goal of bringing people together. Shift lead Katia Bogun emphasized the shop’s dedication to quality and local sourcing.
“We don’t want to be known as the church café that serves mediocre coffee,” Bogun said. “Our beans come from Take Two, a local roaster. That matters to us—we want to support local, not big corporations.”
That local-first mindset is shared by Brandon Oaks, co-owner of Tranquil Coffee Roasters, who praised the café’s offerings.
“Union has the best quality coffee in Estero, Florida, by far,” Oaks said.
