A beloved name in Adelaide’s mobile café scene has taken up residence at Carrick Hill this winter. Mrs Sippy, known for its retro aesthetic and standout brews, has launched a seasonal pop-up coffee bar, bringing comforting coffee and handmade treats to one of the city’s most picturesque spots.
Open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 2pm, the pop-up is nestled in a charming refurbished stone building—once believed to be the old bread room—now located near Carrick Hill’s new visitor precinct, which overlooks the courtyard and formal gardens.
“We’ve been connected with Carrick Hill for a while,” said Courtney from the Mrs Sippy team. “We ran our coffee caravan here a few years ago for a few months. When the team reached out two weeks ago, we jumped at the chance. We pulled everything together in just a few days.”
The menu is simple and indulgent: think pastrami toasties, ham and cheese croissants, Portuguese custard tarts, and hot cinnamon doughnuts—paired, of course, with Mrs Sippy’s signature coffee and a variety of cold drinks.
The pop-up is the latest evolution of Mrs Sippy’s growing presence. Since launching in 2019 with a single mobile coffee cart, the team now operates a fleet of vintage vans and caravans, bringing good coffee to events across South Australia.
“Our vintage vans are so in demand we didn’t have one free for this, but we had the setup ready for a static space,” Courtney explained. “It’s been going really well so far.”
Visitors to Carrick Hill can now enjoy a coffee as they stroll through the rose gardens, or settle down for a picnic with something warm in hand.
For those lingering past 2pm, Rozelle’s—Carrick Hill’s modern Mediterranean restaurant from the team behind Chianti and Bar Torino—offers coffee service until 4:30pm, along with wood-fired dishes and antipasti.
Whether you’re chasing a quick caffeine fix or planning a relaxed afternoon among Adelaide’s hills, Mrs Sippy at Carrick Hill is the season’s perfect pit stop.
