Heroes Rise Coffee has officially opened its drive-thru in Blackduck, located at the former Wells Fargo Bank building at 17 Summit Ave. Purchased by D&K Builders and Remodeling in 2024, the site has undergone a transformation into a local coffee destination.
After a final inspection on January 7, the drive-thru began its soft opening, offering a full menu of coffee and other beverages. The soft opening will continue through January, with hours from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
During this phase, owners Matt and Jeff VanGrinsven will focus on hiring and training new staff, with plans to transition to full-time hours starting February 1. By then, the drive-thru will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
“We still have a lot of work to do, and while we start looking for staff, it will be the two of us along with some of our summertime staff from the Heroes Rise Coffee trailer,” Matt said. “After that, we really want Blackduck people to invest in our local hiring.”
Looking ahead to February, the VanGrinsvens plan to introduce an internship program to train new baristas, further integrating the local community into their business.
