Sydney-based specialty coffee roaster Single O has officially achieved B Corp certification, earning an overall B Impact Score of 90.7—well above the minimum threshold of 80 points required for certification.
The globally recognized B Corp status highlights businesses that uphold rigorous standards across five key areas: governance, workers, environment, customers, and community. Single O’s recognition comes after years of environmental stewardship and ethical sourcing efforts aimed at improving the coffee supply chain.
Notable achievements that contributed to the score include:
30% solar-powered operations since 2013 and 100% green power use since 2019
Over 70,000 kg of emissions avoided by diverting coffee grounds from landfill
6,000 kg of coffee chaff composted annually
Ongoing initiatives such as ‘No Death to Coffee’ and ‘Cups Up for Specialty’, which promote sustainability and fair pay for coffee producers
In a company statement, Single O said, “From showcasing high-quality single-origin coffee to championing fairer prices for producers to giving a damn about the environment, we have always been for profit, for partying, and also fiercely for planet and people.”
The certification positions Single O as a leader among ethical coffee businesses and affirms its long-standing commitment to environmental and social responsibility.
