A well-known Galway coffee shop, Coffeewerk + Press, is celebrating a significant achievement after being ranked as one of the best cafés in the world.
The Quay Street café, which has already earned recognition as one of the top 30 cafés globally, is now the only Irish coffee shop to make it onto a prestigious top 100 list. Coffeewerk + Press was ranked 39th among the world’s best coffee spots and impressively placed in the top 20 coffee shops in Europe.
The rankings were based on factors including barista expertise, customer experience, ambiance, and the quality of both pastries and coffee. Public votes accounted for 30% of the score, with an expert panel contributing the remaining 70%.
The team at Coffeewerk + Press shared their pride on Instagram, stating, “So proud to be recognised for the Coffeewerk + Press experience that we offer to our community.” They also expressed gratitude, saying, “To be part of the first edition as the only café from Ireland is a real testament to all our wonderful staff both past and present, who are the heartbeat of what we do every day.”
As they celebrated their tenth year in business, the shop reflected on the milestone, expressing, “As I reflect over the past ten years, I am truly grateful for all the special moments we get to experience because of our little home in this small vibrant city.”
The recognition has sparked excitement among fans, with one commenting, “Kudos to you & all who make Coffeewerk such a wonderful place. One of those places where you lose track of time.” Another added, “One of our favourite coffee shops ever!!! We always visit any time we’re in Galway. So well-deserved!”
Coffeewerk + Press, with its iconic bright yellow door and window frames, has become one of Galway’s most beloved spots in its ten years of operation.
