Nestlé, the company behind brands like KitKat and Nespresso, has raised prices sharply in some markets to cope with soaring costs for coffee beans and cocoa.
The Swiss food giant said it increased prices by 2.1% overall in the first quarter of 2025. In some markets, price hikes were in the double digits, which slightly reduced sales volumes.
Despite this, Nestlé reported better-than-expected sales growth of 2.8% for the first three months of the year. Most of this growth came from higher prices, as sales by volume rose only 0.7%. The company said the price increases caused “limited customer disruption.”
Group CEO Laurent Freixe said the impact of rising global tariffs is “unclear at this stage,” and warned that the company faces “an environment of heightened macroeconomic and consumer uncertainty.”
However, Freixe confirmed that Nestlé is sticking to its full-year forecast, based on its analysis of the current tariffs and its ability to adapt to changing conditions.
