Jitters Coffee Pub, Oceanside’s oldest coffee shop and a beloved community hub for nearly 30 years, is undergoing a major revitalization. The transformation is being led by local chef Felix Alcaide of One Kitchen Collaborative and Grammy Award-winning musician Jason Mraz, a longtime resident of Oceanside.
Known for its welcoming atmosphere, Jitters has served as a space where locals gather to connect, relax, and create. The new chapter includes a full renovation, a revamped menu, and an expanded schedule of events aimed at bringing even more life into the space.
Jason Mraz has strong personal ties to Jitters. He often stopped by to perform unannounced sets, using the cozy venue to try out new music. For Mraz, the collaboration is deeply personal.
“Jitters is a place that has seen my friends and me through so many chapters of life,” Mraz said. “I started my career strumming songs in the corner of a coffee shop. Places like Jitters are part of my origin story.”
He added, “A coffee shop is like a clubhouse — a third space that’s neither home nor work. Jitters has always provided that warmth to Oceanside. When the chance came to help bring it back to life, I had to be part of it. Oceanside deserves a place like this.”
With Mraz’s passion for music, food, and community, and Alcaide’s experience in sustainable, locally-sourced cuisine, the reimagined Jitters is set to become more than just a coffee shop — it aims to be a true cultural and culinary destination.
