On a sunny April morning, Glacier Grinds, one of Kalispell’s newest coffee shops, buzzes with energy. The espresso machine hums behind the bar, where baristas whip up an array of coffee drinks and energy beverages. A mother chats with the staff as her daughter mimics the coffee-making process on a toy machine. It’s the lively, welcoming atmosphere that owner Hailey Owens envisioned when she first dreamed of opening her own shop.
Glacier Grinds, which officially opened in mid-April, is nestled inside a shared space with The Rancher’s Daughter, a local farm-to-table store. This marks the next chapter for the business, which began as a mobile coffee trailer just a year ago. Hailey and her husband, John, started the venture after Hailey’s decade-long experience at Copper Mountain Coffee. Having always dreamed of running her own coffee shop, Hailey seized the opportunity when she found a trailer for sale in 2023.
“My goal was always to start my own coffee shop, and the trailer was a great start to that,” Hailey explained. “After we got the trailer up and running last August, we just kept pushing forward.”
In February, Hailey found the perfect opportunity to expand when The Rancher’s Daughter advertised for a coffee shop partner. She quickly signed a lease, and Glacier Grinds now serves locals in its permanent space.
“We want to grow and expand still,” Hailey said, sharing her hope of one day having a drive-through location for even more convenience. For now, Glacier Grinds is becoming a beloved part of the community, serving quality coffee in a cozy, vibrant environment.
