Coffee enthusiasts from across Mississippi gathered at the Mississippi Trade Mart for the inaugural Jackson Coffee Festival, a day-long celebration of coffee culture, education, and community. Running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the event offered attendees the chance to sample brews from over a dozen specialty roasters, attend interactive classes, and watch live demonstrations of coffee roasting and brewing techniques.
Organized by Jim Currie and his team, the festival was intentionally launched in Jackson to highlight the state’s rising presence in the specialty coffee world.
“The reason we picked Jackson and the reason we picked Mississippi is because there’s special things happening in coffee right now,” Currie said.
Brewers from cities including Starkville, Tupelo, and Oxford showcased their craft, reflecting the diverse and innovative coffee talent emerging across the state. Currie emphasized the South’s growing influence in flavor innovation, saying, “Wouldn’t we expect the South to be the best in new flavors?”
Organizers hope to make the Jackson Coffee Festival an annual event, continuing to foster Mississippi’s burgeoning coffee community and celebrating the craft behind every cup.
