Aidan and Laura Smith have turned their dream into reality by opening The Cosy Bean in Alderwood Shopping Precinct, providing Sedgley locals a warm space to relax, socialize, and enjoy great coffee. The couple, together since age 12, quickly secured the lease after spotting the vacant unit near their Northway home.
“It’s been phenomenal – we’ve already had a customer fill out a loyalty card!” Aidan said, reflecting on the early success of the shop. The community’s support was strong on opening day, with local leaders and former MP Marco Longhi among the visitors.
The Cosy Bean offers a menu featuring delicious cakes, bakes, and a special Spanish coffee blend that Aidan describes as a “defining” feature. Plans are already in motion to expand the menu to include paninis, sandwiches, and jacket potatoes.
With a background in wellness and fitness, Aidan hopes their coffee shop will not only thrive but also boost the entire precinct’s business scene. “We feel like we’re plugging a gap and are so proud of how it has gone so far,” he said.
