Valentine Coffee Roasters has expanded, opening its third location on May 1 near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. Just in time for finals week, the new café, located at 3126 N. Downer Ave., offers a fresh space for students and coffee lovers to fuel up during their busiest time of year.
The café is nestled in a charming, book-filled space next to Old Guard Games, a tabletop gaming store that opened last year in a beautifully restored brick building owned by Ben Checota. The interior, similar to Valentine’s iconic Historic Third Ward location, is designed for comfort and productivity, with ample seating options for those looking to work or study.
Along the southern wall, two-top tables are equipped with outlets for easy charging, while a large communal table in the center provides a great place for group study sessions or casual meetups. The café also features a row of sunny window seats with views of Downer Avenue, and the 1,200-square-foot space is simply decorated with plants and artwork inspired by coffee farms.
On the menu, guests will find Valentine’s signature selection of coffee, tea, espresso, sandwiches, and baked goods. Specialty drinks include popular options like cold brew lemonade, strawberry acai refreshers, and a blackberry basil shaken espresso. Whether you’re looking for a caffeine boost or a relaxing study break, Valentine’s newest location is the perfect spot for UW-Milwaukee students and locals alike.
