MOMO Kombucha, a husband-and-wife team based in South London, has launched a new limited-edition Cold-Brew Coffee Kombucha in collaboration with the Tate. This exciting new flavor will be available starting May 8, 2025, through MOMO, the Tate Galleries, and the London Coffee Festival.
The launch coincides with Tate Modern’s 25th anniversary celebration, which will take place from May 9 to May 12. The world-famous gallery is expecting up to 100,000 visitors over the weekend. For this special occasion, Tate partnered with local businesses, including MOMO Kombucha, to create unique food and drink offerings for its visitors. These special items will be available at the Tate’s food outlets, while supplies last.
Inspired by the philosophy of artist Henri Matisse, who believed that colors should interact with one another rather than simply sit side by side, MOMO Kombucha aimed to create a coffee kombucha that achieves this balance. The coffee used in the brew was sourced from Tate’s Gender Equality Project, which emphasizes quality and social impact. The beans were roasted at Tate Britain and then cold-brewed at MOMO’s headquarters in Vauxhall. The kombucha is then bottled and features Matisse’s iconic collage, The Snail (1953), on the label. This artwork, made from painted paper cut-outs, is a prime example of Matisse’s “gouaches découpées” series.
The new Cold-Brew Coffee Kombucha is a tribute to both Tate Modern’s anniversary and the ongoing partnership between local makers and the cultural institution.
