Starbucks is shaking up its summer lineup with the return of a fan favorite and the debut of a brand-new drink. The coffee giant confirmed to Tasting Table in April that its 2025 summer menu will bring back the popular boba-inspired Summer-Berry Refreshers. But that’s not all—customers can also look forward to trying the new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso.
This refreshing drink blends espresso and oat milk with ice and Starbucks’ newly developed horchata syrup. The result is a mix of rich coffee flavor and the sweet, cinnamon taste that horchata is known for.
Horchata is a traditional drink found in many Hispanic cultures. It’s typically made with rice water, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar. While Starbucks’ version of horchata syrup may not follow the traditional Mexican recipe exactly, it still delivers a sweet and creamy flavor that fans of iced coffee have already been enjoying at home.
The horchata syrup isn’t limited to the new shaken espresso. Starbucks customers will be able to add it to a variety of drinks this summer. Whether it’s a Frappuccino, cold brew, or even matcha, the syrup adds a unique twist to your favorite beverages.
The new Iced Horchata Oatmilk Shaken Espresso and horchata syrup are expected to hit stores starting May 20, for a limited time. If you’re looking to try something new this summer, now’s the time to plan your next Starbucks order.
