The Bulolo District Development Authority (DDA) has launched a new partnership to support agriculture and youth employment. The initiative brings together the CCoffee Ministry, the Farmers and Settlers Association (FSA), and young people from the district to focus on coffee farming and training.
According to a report from Bulolo District Rural Development Officer Kalang Muting, the goal of the program is to expand local, hands-on agricultural training. The focus is on building sustainable economic growth in the region.
Mr. Muting said the program also aims to empower young people by offering casual employment on a rotating, fortnightly basis. The Bulolo DDA and the Farmers and Settlers Association will jointly fund the wages for at least 40 young participants involved in the project.
“This partnership shows the district’s commitment to community development by helping young people earn an income while gaining agricultural experience,” Mr. Muting said.
He also confirmed that a coffee seed nursery has been completed in the Mumeng Local Level Government area. However, the nursery still needs to be fenced before it can begin operations.
