Frequent political candidate Adam Fire Cat has received approval from the Planning Commission to open a drive-through-only coffee shop on School Avenue in Fayetteville.
The permit was approved unanimously in a 7-0 vote on Tuesday. The new coffee business will be located at the former Bank of Fayetteville building, which shares a lot with Mountain Man Supplies and Pawn.
Fire Cat has run multiple times for local office, including unsuccessful bids for mayor in 2008 and 2024, and for City Council in 2012, 2018, and 2020. He also filed to run in 2016 but later withdrew after moving to a different ward.
His application for the coffee shop includes plans for 24-hour operation and space for three employees per shift, along with three designated employee parking spaces. However, in a letter to the city, Fire Cat said he actually plans to operate the shop from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Minimal changes will be made to the existing 4,400-square-foot building. Fire Cat said he plans to replace the old bank teller window with a sliding window, update a sink, install a few electrical outlets, and add signage to convert the space into a functioning coffee shop.
