Downtown Hayward has a new spot for coffee lovers—and this one brings something a little different to the table. Tram Cream Coffee, a growing local chain known for its unique Vietnamese drinks and snacks, opened its latest location in June. This shop, called Tram Cream Coffee Hayward Station 6, is the sixth in the Bay Area, joining others in San Jose, Sacramento, and beyond.
The café’s signature drink is ca phe trung, or Vietnamese egg coffee. Rich, creamy, and slightly sweet, the drink is made by whipping egg yolks with sugar and condensed milk, then topping a strong shot of robusta coffee with the fluffy egg mixture. The result is a thick, velvety brew that’s both indulgent and energizing.
Egg coffee originated in Hanoi and has become a favorite in Vietnam for its dessert-like texture and bold flavor. It’s also a surprisingly good fit for keto diets due to its high-fat, low-carb ingredients.
In addition to egg coffee, Tram Cream Coffee also serves cold-brew fruit teas, traditional Vietnamese snacks like fish cakes, and banh mi sandwiches. With its latest opening in Hayward, the chain continues to introduce more Bay Area residents to these flavorful Vietnamese specialties.
