Richmond’s Brookland Park neighborhood is about to welcome a unique blend of coffee and coworking. A 6,200-square-foot former bank building at 2930 North Avenue will soon be home to two new businesses: a second location of The Smoky Mug coffee shop and a new coworking space called Brandery Richmond. Both are expected to open this summer.
While they’ll share the building, each business will have its own dedicated floor. The Smoky Mug will take over the first floor at 2930 North Avenue, while Brandery Richmond will occupy the second floor at 2828 North Avenue.
Brandery Richmond will span about 3,000 square feet and include a reception area, conference room, five private offices, and an open coworking area. It will also feature a multi-purpose content studio designed for podcasts, branding shoots, photography, and social media content creation, complete with customizable backdrops, furniture, and camera equipment.
The coworking space is the vision of Danasia Pascal, a Richmond native and former NBC12 news and lifestyle producer. After being laid off in 2019, Pascal launched Get Social RVA, a company that helps mid- and large-sized businesses with social media strategy and content creation.
While working remotely at Gather’s Short Pump location, Pascal began to imagine a coworking space built specifically for creative professionals. That idea gained traction when she met local developer Cory Weiner in September. Their meeting helped bring her vision to life.
Now, with Brandery Richmond set to open soon, Pascal is combining her expertise in media with her passion for community and entrepreneurship—offering Richmonders a place to work, create, and connect, all under one roof.
