Sociology Coffee Bar, a well-loved specialty coffee shop and roaster based in Folsom’s historic district, is expanding into El Dorado County with a new location set to open at 564 Main Street in downtown Placerville. This new spot is strategically positioned across from Placerville Town Hall and close to the El Dorado County courthouse.
Founded in 2020 with a humble farmers market booth, Sociology later operated inside an escape room before establishing its current home on Gold Lake Drive in 2021. Known for its elevated coffee, seasonal specialty drinks, and a menu of fresh sandwiches, salads, and breakfast items, the brand has built a strong local following.
Owner Kyle Stillman said the Placerville café will carry over the same brewing standards and intentional approach to food that define the Folsom location. The new outpost will also offer a street food-inspired menu highlighting housemade sourdough, seasonal ingredients, and comforting flavors—all designed to make the space feel like home for locals and a hidden gem for visitors.
