Tampa-based Buddy Brew Coffee is heading west. The company announced Monday that its popular canned cold brew, BOLT, is now available in California for the first time.
Through a new distribution deal, BOLT will be sold in Erewhon Market, a high-end grocery chain with 10 stores across Los Angeles County. Known for its focus on organic and clean-label products, Erewhon began in Boston in the 1960s and is considered one of the first natural foods stores in the U.S.
BOLT, which takes its name from Tampa’s nickname as the “lightning capital of the world,” is described as more than just a beverage.
“BOLT isn’t just coffee, it’s an experience,” said Susan Ward, co-founder and president of Buddy Brew, in a statement. “We believe in providing clean, organic energy that fuels both the body and the mind. We’re thrilled to partner with Erewhon to bring BOLT to a community that appreciates exceptional, clean products.”
Buddy Brew’s BOLT is also sold in other major retailers, including Sprouts and Whole Foods.
Founded in 2009 by Dave and Susan Ward, Buddy Brew Coffee started as a small Tampa roaster named after the couple’s Labrador retriever. The company has grown steadily, now operating eight locations across the Tampa Bay area and employing over 100 people.
