George Jinyang Peng of China has claimed the title of 2025 World Brewers Cup Champion at the prestigious competition held in Jakarta during the World of Coffee Asia conference. Peng impressed a panel of judges with a smooth and skillful presentation, showcasing an award-winning coffee roasted in three distinct ways.
His performance highlighted the crucial role temperature plays throughout the coffee journey—from growing and roasting to brewing and drinking—delivering a cohesive and compelling narrative.
In the finals, Singapore’s Brewers Cup Champion, Elysia Tan, earned the highest score in the open service round, which features a ten-minute presentation and allows competitors to use their own coffees. Peng, however, topped the compulsory service round, where all finalists brewed the same coffee silently on stage without presentation.
The competition was fierce, with Peng edging out Indonesia’s World Brewers Cup Champion Bayu Prawiro by a razor-thin margin of just nine points.
