Construction has started on a new coffee drive-thru on Jasper’s south side. Local entrepreneurs Aaron and Ashley Cochran plan to open a Ziggi’s Coffee location before the end of the year.
The Cochrans, who live in St. Meinrad with their two young children, Cyrus and Owen, chose this location because they saw a need for more coffee options in the area.
“We felt there was a need and a service that wasn’t being filled,” Aaron said.
While other coffee shops are opening downtown and on Jasper’s north side, the south side has been overlooked by new businesses. The Cochrans were also drawn to a high-traffic spot near Vincennes University at the corner of South Meridian and Third Avenue.
Ziggi’s Coffee is a Colorado-based franchise with about 200 locations nationwide. The brand offers a wide menu that goes beyond traditional coffee drinks.
A favorite feature for the Cochrans is the caffeine-free kids’ menu.
“I love the kid’s menu,” Ashley said. “It’s nice to go up and not have to think, ‘Okay, I want a coffee but what am I going to get my kids?’”
The kids’ menu includes fun drinks like the Shark Bite Slushie, made with frozen lemonade and blue raspberry, a Cotton Candy Blender, and Unicorn Punch—a mix of strawberry smoothie and vanilla.
Ziggi’s is also known for its specialty “dirty sodas.” These drinks blend popular sodas with coffee flavors and other ingredients. Examples include Dr. Pepper with almond flavor, vanilla cream, and a cherry on top, or Mountain Dew with lime, sweet cherry, and strawberry puree.
