A new coffee shop in downtown Bend is opening with a strong focus on community and inclusivity. Almadorada Coffee is taking over the former location of Turtle Island Coffee, which closed in March and was known for being a welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community and minority groups.
Almadorada is co-owned by Melissa Cabaccang, who says the goal is to carry on that legacy by offering a safe, supportive space where everyone feels free to be themselves.
“We’re trying to show up as our authentic selves, and we want to make sure that folks get that when they come in,” said Cabaccang. “We want to encourage people to be who they truly are—even when the world feels like it’s working against them.”
The coffee shop will hold a soft opening on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by a short weekend break. Almadorada will officially open its doors for regular business on Wednesday, June 11. It is located at 180 NW Oregon Avenue in Bend.
With its mission of acceptance and community support, Almadorada Coffee is set to become a new hub for connection and comfort in downtown Bend.
