Precision Coffee Company is getting ready to open a new location—inside the Nevada Public Library. The local coffee shop has partnered with the library to create a shared space that encourages both reading and relaxation.
“We’re hoping people spend more time at the city library,” said Chris Forsythe, owner of Precision Coffee. “And when there are student book readings or library events, parents can come over here, grab a coffee, and enjoy the space while their kids are at the library.”
The shop has transformed an unused section of the library and is preparing for a grand opening on June 10.
Combining coffee and books is not a new idea—many bookstores like Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million already feature cafés. But now, public libraries are starting to embrace this trend. Another example is The McKay Street Coffeehouse, which is opening at the Frontenac Library.
“I think coffee and books just naturally go together,” said Denise Hedges, president of the Nevada Public Library Board. “Our patrons can enjoy a coffee or lunch, browse the shelves, or attend a library program.”
Katelyn Scott, manager of Precision Coffee, says the partnership is an exciting new chapter. She wants to tie the shop’s offerings directly into literary themes.
“We’ve thought about doing weekly specials and naming each drink after a book or genre,” said Scott. “It would be a fun way to connect coffee and literature.” The shop is also planning a local author signing event on June 13.
Scott and co-manager Allison Forsythe are both excited to see how the coffee shop and library communities will come together.
“Having them side by side is a great way to bring more people together,” Allison said. “It creates a true sense of community.”
