On June 4, Indie Coffee Roasters (ICR) became one of only three roasters in the U.S. to offer the highly sought-after Las Quebraditas coffee beans. The beans, sourced from Colombia, are now available across ICR’s four locations in Carmel, Noblesville, and West Lafayette—but only for a short time.
Las Quebraditas rose to fame after brewer Justin Bull of Helm Coffee used the beans to win the 2025 U.S. Brewers Cup, impressing judges with their vibrant flavor in all three of his submitted brews. Demand surged, and online sales quickly sold out. ICR will continue serving the beans as a pour-over at all locations until supplies run out, expected within a week.
ICR first discovered Las Quebraditas through Felipe Trujillo, founder of Ventola Coffee, an importer that connects Colombian farmers with U.S. roasters. ICR’s head roaster, Precious Campbell, visited Trujillo’s operation in Colombia last year and built a partnership with the farm behind the beans.
“The world of coffee is entirely collaborative and relational,” Campbell said. “We’re lucky to be part of the Indianapolis coffee scene, where roasters like us share access to incredible coffees through people like Felipe.”
Las Quebraditas is grown by Edinson Argote and Luz Angela Rojas, a husband-and-wife team running a small farm in rural Colombia. The pair focus on nontraditional coffee varieties and innovative farming techniques. Due to their remote location, they rely on two Colombian importers to get their beans to global markets.
The beans offer a unique flavor profile, with notes of strawberry sherbet, cotton candy, and hibiscus. But the story behind them is just as rich.
“This is only the second harvest from their farm,” Campbell explained. “They’re small but ambitious, and they grow exotic varietals like SL 28, which originally came from Kenya’s Scott Laboratories before spreading to Colombia.”
ICR’s exclusive offering of Las Quebraditas provides coffee lovers a rare chance to taste a world-class bean—while it lasts.
