Philz Coffee, the popular San Francisco-based chain known for its handcrafted pour-over coffee, is expanding its footprint in Los Angeles County with three new locations.
The first of the new cafes will open in Los Feliz at 2117 Hillhurst Avenue. It will take over the former space of McCall’s Meat & Fish Co., which relocated to Atwater Village after 14 years at that address.
Another Philz Coffee location is planned for Burbank at 4400 W Riverside Drive, replacing a former Lemonade restaurant. Both sites are currently listed as “coming soon” on the company’s website. Opening dates have not yet been announced.
In addition to these two publicized openings, a third location is underway at 3250 Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village. This site is part of a new retail development called The Local, built on the former grounds of a Wells Fargo bank branch.
According to property listings on LoopNet, The Local will also include Yunomi Handroll and Nova’s Grill, along with room for three more tenants. The center will feature an outdoor communal patio and the largest parking lot in Atwater Village, offering 36 spaces on-site and 40 more in a nearby public lot.
Philz Coffee currently operates 15 locations across Los Angeles. The chain is well-known for its made-to-order drinks, including favorites like the Iced Mint Mojito, Mocha Tesora, and Oatmeal Cookie Cold Brew. Customers can customize each drink’s sweetness and creaminess, with milk options such as oat, almond, and soy.
What sets Philz apart is its focus on freshness and personalization. Every cup is brewed individually using house-made coffee blends, a feature that has made the brand a favorite among coffee enthusiasts.
