A new coffee shop has officially opened inside the Salt Lake City Public Library’s main branch — just in time for the Utah Pride Festival.
Hugo Coffee Roasters, now located in the former Salt Lake Roasting Company space at 210 E. 400 South, quietly began serving customers in March. However, the company is celebrating this weekend as its official grand opening, according to a news release from the library.
The grand opening coincides with the Utah Pride Festival, taking place at nearby Library Square and Washington Square. Hugo Coffee will have a booth at the festival and will offer exclusive pride-themed stickers at both its library location and the booth.
Festivalgoers can also grab a coupon for 20% off any purchase at the library coffee shop, valid only during Pride weekend.
Hugo Coffee was selected to open the new café through a competitive request-for-proposals process, said library spokesperson Quinn McQueen. He first shared news of the partnership with The Salt Lake Tribune in October, while noting that plans were still being finalized at the time.
“The City Library is thrilled to be moving forward with Hugo Coffee at the downtown Main Library,” McQueen said then.
