Speciality coffee roaster Pact Coffee has expanded its range in Waitrose by introducing a new decaffeinated pod option, responding to rising demand for high-quality caffeine-free coffee.
Starting this month, Waitrose stores across the UK will stock decaf pods featuring a new version of Pact’s award-winning Bourbon Cream Espresso. It will be the only speciality-grade decaf coffee available at the supermarket chain.
The launch follows strong customer feedback and growing interest in decaf coffee. Pact Coffee reports that sales of its decaffeinated products have risen nearly 200% year-on-year. New research by the company also shows a significant market opportunity for better caffeine-free coffee options.
“Decaf drinkers have often had to settle for low-quality, stale coffee that’s been poorly processed,” said Will Corby, Director of Coffee at Pact. “Our research found that half of consumers have bought decaf coffee to drink at home in the past six months. Even more—around 70%—said they’d be more likely to drink decaf if better options were widely available.”
Corby said bringing a speciality-grade decaf to Waitrose is a big step forward. “We’re excited to give Waitrose customers the chance to enjoy a better-tasting decaf coffee,” he said.
To be considered “speciality,” a coffee must score at least 80 out of 100 in tastings by professional graders. Pact’s new decaf scores 84, making it a premium choice for caffeine-free drinkers. The coffee is freshly roasted before being sealed in each pod, ensuring freshness and flavor.
The new Bourbon Cream Decaf Pods will be sold in packs of 10 at a promotional price of £4 until 20th July. After that, the regular retail price will be £5.
